Our Mission Statement and Vision of Main Street Lawrenceburg
Our Mission Statement for historic downtown Lawrenceburg is to preserve and enhance the historic charm and integrity of our community, while encouraging local spending, tourism, and a sense of community, which will improve the local economy.
The Vision of the Main Street Lawrenceburg is to revitalize the historical downtown business district through economic development, and within the context of historic preservation, that will create a thriving and unique retail center in the historic downtown area, once prominent in our community.
Tennessee Department of Economic & Community Development
The Tennessee Main Street Program is a program of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development and is a coordinating partner of the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s National Main Street Center. The National Main Street Center encourages public-private partnerships to enhance community livability and job creation while maintaining the historic character of communities’ traditional commercial districts.
Main Street Four Point Approach
Main Street Lawrenceburg set out to meet our objection by implementation of the Main Street Organization’s proven strategy call the Four-Point Approach. The Four Point Approach is a comprehensive strategy tailored to meet local needs and opportunities. It encompasses work in four distinct areas. These areas include:
2. Economic Restructuring,
3. Promotion, and
These areas combined set out to address all of the commercial district’s needs. The philosophy behind this methodology makes it an effective tool for community-based, grassroots revitalization efforts. The Main Street approach has been successful in communities of all sizes, both rural and urban.
The Main Street approach is incremental; it is not designed to produce immediate change. In order to succeed, a long-term revitalization effort requires careful attention to every aspect of the downtown; a process that takes time and requires leadership.
